Greenhouse Gala with Sympathy

While we are joined in our love of making cards there are certain cards that one never likes to have to create. Sympathy cards are hard but sadly, necessary. Last Friday a very dear family friend passed away and the funeral is coming up so I made this card to give the family.

I wanted to keep it simple and knew that I also wanted to incorporate nature so this stamp set seemed the right way to go. The DSP is from the Greenhouse Gala pack which is so pretty.

I used Soft Suede and Wild Wasabi as my two main colours.

New Catalogue Summer Fiesta

I wanted to post some pictures from my Summer Fiesta party which was the kick-off for the 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalogue. But I would like to start with a big thank you to all my customers and friends who made it such a success! I hope you had as much fun as I did.

I had lots of retired product for sale and I think I only had about 4 stamp pads left at the end....all the other paper, ink, markers, etc. had been snatched up which makes me so happy!

On arrival everyone received their brand new catalogue and a bookmark which showcases the new core colours on one side and on the other are the new In Colours which are so beautiful but unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the back side. I also wish I could take credit for this awesome idea but it was a CASE and I forget the demonstrator's name but if you're out there and see this let me know so I can give proper credit! :)

The Make'n'Take projects featured new stamp sets, inks and DSP from the catalogue and I tried to keep it simple and fun. The first card uses the Chic Boutique (113744) set and combines it with En Francais (109521). I then added in some gorgeous Love Letter DSP (117162) and mounted it all on the returning colour Riding Hood Red (111348). Magnifique, n'est-ce pas?

The second project was an itty bitty baby card with an envelope. To create the card I used the onesie image from the adorable new Baby Bundle (118525) set....it's too cute for words and a must for every stamper to meet all your baby card needs! I used 3 punches, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle (119854), 1 1/4" Circle (119861), and the 1 3/8" Circle (119860) to punch out the image and layers. I added a little of the new 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (119255) in certainly celery and there you have it! The envelope was made with the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die (113462) for the Big Shot.

Too Long Gone

Wow. My last post was on July 14th and I've missed you all! Sometimes life gets in the way and there's nothing that can be done about that but I am back on the blogging horse and ready to ride (as it were, lol!).

So crazy trivia tidbit for you....did you know that July is National Cell Phone Courtesy month? Suffice it to say a lot of people must not know that, know what I mean? ;) It is also National Hay Month and Get Along With Your Ex Month (good luck to those of you with an ex!) but my favourite is this.....it is National "July Belongs to Berries" month and I looooove berries. So in honour of the berry I made this card. Too cute!

Well I also bought a carton of strawberries today so I am off for a snack but will be back tomorrow and that is a promise! :)

Mojo Monday? Tuesday?

I'm a day late, sorry! But here is what happened, I had company yesterday and thought, "Okay, no problem, I will make the card tomorrow". Easy, right? Now I don't know about all of you but when things should go right they never do!! I checked the sketch, loved it, made the card...and that's when the trouble started.

First I couldn't find the camera (Skye was kind enough to offer his Playskool camera but I didn't think that would quite cut it!). I finally found the camera...and it was out of battery! So I went to find the camera bag to get the battery charger out of it and of course it was nowhere in sight. After much searching I located the bag but, of course, the charger was not in it. Sigh. So then I looked for the charger. Fifty minutes later I am sitting down to compose this post while the batter charges. WHY??!! But, I have decided I will harbour no bitterness and will simply move on. Now that I've bored you with the story of my life, look at my beautiful card!

What a fantastic sketch this week! It provided me with the perfect opportunity to pull out the newly renovated Brights Collection, use my new buttons, some new Designer Series Paper, and pull together this fun birthday card.

I hope you enjoy using this sketch as much as I did!

Top 10 Favourites

Here is my list of the top 10 things that I simply MUST have from the new catalogue! Note that a couple of them I already got in my first order but the rest are at the top of my wishlist.

#10 - Tag Alongs stamp set (Pg.225). This set is on the very last page of the catalogue and the images are so adorable. Plus, from every set that is sold Stampin' Up! donates $2 to the Ronald McDonald House programs across the United States and Canada. Adding to your collection and helping the kids? Nothing better!

#9 - Build-A-Bear Collection (Pg.216). I've procrastinated on buying these adorable little bears, both the die cuts and the stamps, for so along but now they are just calling to me! How cute would they be for making cards and gifts for little kids? Perfect!

#8 - Punch Caddy (Pg.200). How awesome are all the new storage products being offered in this catalogue?! The punches one is so great and come in 4 different sizes for you to choose from. It holds the new style which is what all the punches have been changed over to and is so compact. Anything that helps me organize my storehouse of supplies makes me very happy!

#7 - Quick Accents (Pg.176). Okay, these are so cool! These can be used on all kinds of projects for a perfect finishing touch. Self adhesive and super easy to use, they are all bright and scream "use me!"! :)

#6 - New In Colours (Pg.165). Beautiful! The new in colours do not disappoint! Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush and Blushing Bride, some sound yummy enough to eat! I want all the colours and all the ribbon and markers to go with them.

#5 - Background Stamps (Pg. 141). We have new background stamps and they are awesome. My two favourites are Dotted Spring and Wonderfully Worn but they are all great!

#4 - Vintage Suite (Pg. 124-125). Everything on these two pages. Yup, you read that right! Just flip to those pages and see for yourself. Stunning!

#3 - New Stamp Sets. Well, a lot of them anyway! Some of my 'most wanted' are Greeting Card Kids (Pg.36), Baby Bundle (Pg.78), Printed Petals (Pg. 106), For Everything (Pg.62), Little Lambs (Pg.71), Fabulous Phrases (Pg.149)

#2 - Ribbon (Pg.190). All of it, you say? Absolutely! Right now I'm especially loving the satin and the new 1/8" taffeta ribbons. And of course the new crochet trim which is lovely!

#1 - Designer Series Paper (Pg.173). Oh come on, you knew this was coming! ;) I love the new DSP, it is to die for delicious!! I even want the Patterns DSP which is a variety of patterns featuring colours from each of the new Colour Collections. Love, love, love!

Stampin' Up! has really outdone themselves with this catalogue and all the fabulous new product they are offering now. It's a delight to look through and just dream about having it all.

If you don't have a 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue and you are in Canada, please contact me and I will be glad to send you a copy of your own!

New Catalogue Stuff

Guess what I got??!! My new catalogue order arrived yesterday evening, woohoo!! You know, every time I'm waiting for something I always come to the point of giving up when the clock hits 6:00 pm and the UPS man hasn't shown up yet...and then he always comes through and I (over exuberantly, I admit) thank him so profusely that I'm certain he thinks I'm raving mad!

Anyways, here is my haul minus my stamp sets that were shipped separately because I earned them for free by being a demonstrator (BONUS!). Everything is awesome and even nicer than it looks in the catalogue which is really saying a lot.

Mojo with Pizzazz!

It's that time again and with the heat here in Toronto I had to pull out the Brights and Petal Pizzazz!

I love this set for it's bold and fun designs and paired with Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, and Pumpkin Pie (all from the new Brights Collection) it's just an all around cheerful card.

I used the Lattice Die impressions folder for a bit of texture on the background. The 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and designer buttons were the perfect finishing touches!
Here is the design for you to create your own.

Don't forget that my new catalogue launch party, Summer Fiesta, is coming up on July 18th!
